The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) provides short-term relief to workers who become unemployed or are unable to work due to illness, maternity, or adoption.

Contribution Rates

Both the employer and employee contribute 1% of the employees remuneration, making a total contribution of 2%. The maximum remuneration amount for UIF purposes is R17,712 per month.

Who Must Contribute?

All employers must register their employees for UIF, with limited exceptions for certain categories of workers.
